The first film I’ve wanted to see in a while

6 09 2009

The other day, I stumbled across a trailer. The only reason I watched it was because of the amazing name – The Men Who Stare At Goats. I could try and explain this in horribly thought out english, but instead, the trailer can tell you all you need. Enjoy.

Also – Oktoberfest has its own official game. Amazing.

*OLLIE EDITS* For people who are socially unaware of anything (like me, I googled it), Oktberfest is a german festival run every year.

Alien 5? Number 4 was a flop…

5 08 2009

I just got the heads up that Alien 5 is in the production. At the moment, it will be a prequel but it features Ellen Ripley as the main character again. Seeing as though she sees her first alien in the first film, I am intrigued to find out why she is in an Alien film, when the story couldn’t let her know Aliens exist. It will be directed by Ridley Scott, the director of the first film. Let’s see if he can nail the horror aspect of the first again. There is no mention of a release date though, so I will keep you updated on that in the future.

Metroid + Halo? Pretty decent.

30 07 2009

Thanks to the guys at Rooster Teeth, I discovered this animation by Monty Oum, with a combination of Halo and Metroid. The actual animation is amazing, and so is the choreography, and creates a pretty nice piece, and an escpecially nice concept. You can see it below.

In other news, I updated the banner. The black looked all lonely on its own, so I gave it some friends. And some self-advertising. Woot.

Twilight 2?

27 07 2009

Okay, so this may open up some pretty fierce discussion by doing this, but I’m going to do it anyway.
I saw the trailer for the second twilight film, “new moon”, which comes out a YEAR after the first one (just a bit quick, seeing as L4D2 is getting criticized for the same thing). The main problem I have the entire lack of any type of plot in the trailer. Now, this my be due to the fact I haven’t seen the first one, but there just seemed to be random events dispersed throughout, that could of made the sections from multiple films. You could in a way call this trailer successful, but only because I want to see if it makes any sense on a larger scale. Last thing – Robert Pattinson isn’t that great.

On another note, it’s kinda weird using your own twitter to find out when theres a new post on your own blog.

Trailer>Film? Hope not

23 07 2009

I just saw this trailer for “World’s Greatest Dad”, with Robin Williams and that guy from Spy Kids. IMO, this trailer is pretty decent with some pretty good gags in it, but this could always be another case of the trailer containing the best 3 minutes of the film, or it could be, like in the case of Bruno, the only 3 minutes they can show without being machetteed by the rating people dudes. Whatever happens, it has some decent throwaway jokes. It comes out on August 21st, and you can view the trailer by clicking below.

FUTURE IS HERE

20 07 2009

Me and my mates were assigned a task in English. Make a film. We were allowed to do what we wanted, and decided on this. Enjoy!

The New Harry Potter Film? Not bad at all.

18 07 2009

I just came back from the slog that is Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. To be honest, I enjoyed it. A steady plot, a few laughs and enough stuff true to the book to keep it entertaining the fanboys and girls all over the world. I think that the film is great because not only is it immersive and spellbinding *no pun intended*, it is still very accessible for the people who haven’t seen any other film int the series or read any Harry Potter book. I recommend it to all.
