We’re still here

22 11 2009

Well, it’s been along time, but we are still here.

There are many images on the internet of exam answers that mainly include drawings of random characters, notably a TMNT and Batman, but my favourites are when the marker fight back, like this little gem I stole from Halolz.com, visible after the jump. (Heh, professional words are cool ^^)

Time for the website-site of the weeks!

17 10 2009

I think it may be time to introduce you to a site I stumbled upon whilst browsing through the Firefox addons – Homestarrunner.com. A web cartoon, It has a ton of inside jokes and humour, and the kind of  quirky humour. Give it a shot, and you may just find something you enjoy.

Sales aren’t just for christmas…

17 10 2009

EA is holding a sale (at the time of posting) wherein 10 games have been reduced to only a fiver. These are all electronic downloads, so you’ll need a decent internet connection to get them, but the range of games is amazing, including RA3 (which I reviewed here), CNC3, Mass Effect, Mirror’s Edge, Burnout Paradise and a few more, so I crumbled and bought CNC3, Mass Effect and Burnout, all of which I wouldn’t have bought if the sale wasn’t on, and love them all. Reviews may come soon.
So, go out, buy some cheap games, and have some fun.

Some things that have happened

11 10 2009

Apart, these didn’t make for a post. Together though…

1) My internet doesn’t like us – Our first router decided to stop giving wireless connection after a while, and this one likes to act up
2) I may get an ICT GCSE by the end of the year, due to my amazing under-belief of my own ability (maybe)
3) My dads ultra thin computer case now has a massive power supply hanging out of the back after the old one packed in
4) Ubuntu is pretty amazing, especially with the easy Wubi installer, but its just a bit of novelty in my case with still being reliant on Vista
5) Car companies don’t make life easy – especially Ford it seems, with all their sub-brands like Ghia and Zetec
6) I’m a pain to my myself and my family, as I’ll decide to do something on a whim even if I have something that’s been bought for me I haven’t done yet.

Windows 7?

29 09 2009

My dad just installed Windows 7, which he got through the Microsoft Partner Program. I don’t know if its just because he has it but not me, but I’m not a hundred percent happy with it. It does (apparently) have better running and loading times, as well as a smaller install, but one of the main things I like in an OS, maybe even more than how it runs, is how it looks.
If you haven’t got where this is going yet, I’ll tell you. I am not impressed by what it looks like. First of all the initial loading and login screens have been totally revamped, with a glowing (or getting increasingly blurry and bright, which is more the case) windows logo and star moving thingy for the initial load, and a blue screen with some lines and some description of bird for login.
After getting through that, you can see that the sidebar has taken on a more yahoo widgets look, with the gadgets moveable about the screen. All right, you may say, but all it really does is distract you from the horrid sight down below – the fat, ugly taskbar, that looks like a reject from the 98 days, with a large icon-only view type initially, it just doesn’t feel like it belongs. Of course, its all down to personal opinion in the end, but I would rather keep however much 7 costs for other things.

We need to be ready, or you could say, we need to be on RED ALERT……

26 09 2009

Okay, so I decided that I would do a review on the series I love – Command and Conquer. This is also the first time I’ve gotten a CnC game less than 3 years since it was released, and also managed to have almost a whole day to play on it so close to getting it.

I feel special

25 09 2009

I have both my computer and Laptop running side by side. Yay.

Also, The RA3 review is coming along nicely, should be done tomorrow

News has been slow it seems

20 09 2009

I recently obtained a new computer in a quite light case with one of those big holes that are all the rage. Other than being able to check if your motherboard is on fire, I can only assume it is there for visual effect, which it pulls off quite well. Along with this, I got round to buying Red Alert 3 due to a deal where I could get it half price if purchased with the expansion. I’ve always had a love for RTSs, but in my eyes RA has always been one of the best, and I will probably comment on it further when I get round to it.

Pointlessness in full bloom

12 09 2009

We recently found out what one of our GCSE exams for English would be. I already knew that many of the things we were doing would never turn up in most careers (especially where computers and programming are concerned), but the exam takes it to the extreme – we have to analyse a before unseen poem, bad enough, but in the space of a half-hour.
Maybe I should send an extremely badly worded letter to the government. With no puntuation. Or grammer. Or any vowels. Maybe I should just send them my blog posts instead
